It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Coutant, who departed this life peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 70. Jim was born on September 5, 1954, in Ossining, New York, to Frederick and Vilma Coutant.
He was a proud father to Shannon Ferry of Satellite Beach, Florida and James Coutant of Poultney, Vermont. He was a grandfather to five grandchildren; Kenneth, Skyler, Jacob, Dylan, and Jolee. He enjoyed his career as a carpenter which he was still doing on a part time basis. He adored Beau, his Labrador mix dog who sincerely was his best friend. Jim loved NASCAR, when Tony Stewart was racing and he was a Buffalo Bills enthusiast. Jim went to several NASCAR races with his son and grandson. He enjoyed going fishing and relaxing by the river with his brother. He also took great pride in doing maintenance on his car and always willing to help his children and grandchildren with their vehicles as well. Jim was a friend of the Zonta Club of Melbourne and volunteered multiple times at the quarterly causeway cleanups where he was loved by all the members.
The pride and love he had for his family and his pet will never be forgotten. Jim will be incredibly missed. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 in upstate New York.
