David G. Martinson, “Dave,” of Vero Beach, FL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the age of 83. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Renée Ann (Slechta) Martinson, to whom he was happily married for 44 years, and the dear son of the late Jane (Martin) and Charles Martinson. Dave was an especially devoted father to Christopher Robin Martinson (Chaparrel Nerkowski).
Dave was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Lake Wales, FL. He graduated from Culver Military Academy and attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA for two years before leaving to join the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He spent three years working in cryptology for the Army Security Agency. After the war he was a deputy with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and later did computer statistical analysis for several companies including Walt Disney World.
Dave loved doing Christian puppet ministry with his family and he loved traveling. He combined the two while traveling the country with Renée and Christopher in an RV from 2004-2009, practicing the family’s puppet ministry and showing our beautiful nation to his young son. He enjoyed going to Walt Disney World with Renée and Christopher as well. Dave was a kind, strong, gentle, intelligent man who loved his family with all his heart. He also was a great lover of dogs, especially his last one, Ranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dave’s father died when he was three and he was raised by his loving stepfather, Orville Caesar, now deceased. Dave was also predeceased by his two brothers, John and Charles Martinson.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at King’s Baptist Church, Vero Beach, FL.
Dave will be interred at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, FL.

To Renee and Christopher, so sorry for your loss of Dave. Although, I never met him, I enjoyed seeing all the wonderful pictures on Facebook of your trips together and your family time at Disney and time with your animals. It looked like a wonderful family life full of happiness. I pray for peace for your family in this difficult time

So sorry for your loss. It hurts my heart to hear of Dave’s passing. Please know you are in my prayers and have my deepest condolences. I completely sympathize as i lost Jeff in November. No telling what schemes Dave and Jeff could come up with. Lots of love.
