Samuel H. Bimonte, Jr.

August 19, 1933 ~ June 26, 2025

Sam Bimonte, born August 19, 1933, passed away in Fort Pierce, Florida on June 26, 2025, at the age of 91.
Sam spent his youth and active adult years in Hamden, Connecticut, retiring to Florida.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Lucy (nee Kaliszewski); his daughters, Karen Jones (David) of Denver, Colorado, Elaine Moler (Jeff) of Westbrook Connecticut and Maria Yerganian (John) of Parkland, Florida; his brother, Ronald Bimonte, and his grandchildren Sam Reed Jones (Courtney), Jillian Aurigemma (Peter), Kimberly Petrie (Jake), Jeffrey Fassnacht (Nicole), Alexander Yerganian and six great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. A lovely synchronicity occurred as the sixth great-grandchild was born on the day he died. Sam was preceded in death by his grandson Michael Yerganian, and siblings Joseph Bimonte, Mary Brenner, and Ann Dougan.

He was one of five children born to Samuel H. and Genevieve (Landino) Bimonte. After graduating from Hamden High, Class of 1951, Sam enlisted in the Navy Reserves. He was called up for active duty in 1953, enrolled in electronics school and graduated first in his class. He received a citation from Senator Prescott Bush for this achievement. A talented electrician and technician, he dedicated almost four decades to Eastern Industries in Hamden, as the creator, then head of the Testing Dept., where his problem solving and practicality earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

After retiring, Sam and Lucy moved to Florida. He loved long road trips; he and Lucy traveled between Florida and Connecticut many times, as well as enjoying other cross-country adventures. A handyman extraordinaire, his hobbies included photography, motorcycling, building audio systems, and enjoying live music.

In lieu of flowers, please remember Sam by dedicating a planting in his memory to the Arbor Day Foundation @ arborday.org

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
