Robert Lynn Crockett, 73, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026.
He was born on March 11, 1953, in Walters, Oklahoma, to Robert “Truman” Crockett and Betty Colleen Crockett. Robert proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts in English–Creative Writing from Wichita State University in December 2014. He was also a published author of poetry, a reflection of his thoughtful nature and quiet depth. He loved his family deeply and found joy in life’s simple moments, especially sitting on the beach in Florida with a cup of coffee.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Betty Crockett, and his sister, Glenda Callaway.
He is survived by his children, Christina Gilbert and husband Lenny, Amy Emsoff and husband Cliff, and Terri Bunyard and husband Shawn; his grandchildren, Mason and wife Cassie, Tyler, Cassie, Keagen, Jace, Cody, and Caylee; one great-grandchild, Harrison; his sister, Lesa and husband Jaime; as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Robert had a quiet soul and appreciated the peaceful things in life. Those who knew him understood that behind his calm and gentle nature was a fierce and passionate heart—one that was always ready to stand up for the people he loved.
He will be remembered for his strength, his quiet presence, and the lasting impression he left on those who knew him.
His final resting place will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma, just miles from where his life began.
