Martha Spivak, born December 21, 1934, in Argentina, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at the age of 91. She was a woman of elegance, intellect, and quiet grace – the kind of person who made every room feel warmer simply by being in it.
Raised in Buenos Aires, she built an early career that reflected her sophistication and capability, working for the storied Plaza Hotel before joining the military attache office of the Argentine consulate after immigrating to the United States in 1964. It was in Washington, D.C., that she met the man who would become her husband of more than six decades. They married in 1965, welcomed a daughter in 1966, and made their home across Virginia and Maryland before retiring to the sunshine of Vero Beach, Florida.
She was a lover of beauty in all its forms – an accomplished and gifted artist whose drawings revealed a careful eye and a determined and patient hand, a devoted reader, a student of history, and an enthusiastic traveler who carried her sense of wonder with her wherever she went. Music, too, was a constant companion throughout her long and full life.
She is survived by her beloved husband Al; her daughter Denise and daughter-in-law June; her sister Monica; and a wonderful circle of nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward with love and pride.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida, whose compassionate care and dedication brought comfort and dignity to her final days.
