Howard “Buddy” George Lounsberry, 64, passed away Father’s Day, June 21, 2026, in Melbourne, Florida after a three-year battle with heart disease and lung failure. He was born April 15, 1962, in Woodbury, NJ, to parents Howard and Dorothy Lounsberry.

Bud was a Jersey man all his life where his love of fishing started with his father at a young age. He attended Gateway High School in New Jersey and was baptized in National Park, NJ. He loved children and animals; both being drawn to him like a magnet. Bud enjoyed hunting, building things, listening to country music, and lending a helping hand to anyone he could. Above all he enjoyed fishing, especially with his children and his siblings, and went every chance he got. Bud was a dedicated father and hardworking employee. While he had several jobs in his youth, his ultimate calling was working for Gene’s Home Remodeling as a Handyman for thirty years before inheriting the business.

Later in life, Bud moved to Florida to be closer to the water and pass on the family tradition by fishing with his sons on the same boat he fished on with his father as a child. He had a strong interest in guns and had excellent aim; he even shot a baby garter snake right between the eyes – he did not like snakes or crunchy bugs. He did not know how to swim and was afraid of heights (ironic considering he was an avid fisherman and worked on roofs). He enjoyed watching the Eagles, Flyers, and most recently watching MMA. Bud had many acquaintances over the years in Florida and a handful of people he considered true friends: Dennis Higbee, Dennis Burke, Anthony “Ding”, Hack, and most recently, Donald Casper.

Left to cherish Bud’s memory are his loving wife, Barbara “Bobbe-Jo” Lounsberry of Melbourne, FL; his children from his previous marriage of 30 years: Robert (Dorothy) of New Jersey, Howard “Bud-Bud” (Teddi) of Florida, Jessica (late Scott) of New Jersey, Ericka of New Jersey, Rebecca “Becky” (Donnie) of New Jersey, and Michael “Mikey” of Florida; his stepchildren: Dennis, Jr. of New Jersey, Michael of New Jersey, and Barbara of New Jersey; his brother, Mark; his sisters: Laura (late Bruce) and Lindy (Jimmy); 27 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews; and many friends, acquaintances, and extended family members.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy Lounsberry; his brother, Robert; and his sister, Dorothy “Dotty” (Danny) of New Jersey.

Bud was a loyal friend and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will truly be missed and loved until we meet again.
