Skyler Olivia Gaponiuk, 18, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on July 21, 2026 after a sudden and unexpected medical emergency.
She was born on January 4, 2008 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Mark and Kim Gaponiuk. She moved with her parents and siblings to Florida at the age of four.
Skyler was homeschooled, and graduated from high school this year with her Associate in Arts degree from Indian River State College. She was accepted into Savannah College of Art and Design, where she was excited to begin her education in costume design this fall.
Skyler had a creative spirit. She kept herself busy with all kinds of art projects, from crochet and sewing projects, to writing stories and learning to play the mandolin. Skyler spent many hours volunteering at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild, and was employed this summer in the costume department of Riverside Theatre. She approached life and relationships with genuine joy and kindness.
She is survived by her parents and five siblings: Mesyk, Karis, JohnMark, Sofia, and Kwynn.

I am excited to join the immersion Saturday, into Skylar’s exquisite life, albeit, cut short by our standards. I love to imagine her pouring into her creative passions. . .taking chances. Succeeding with some. . not so with others, but to see the blossom of her heart in what she produced with her hands, her heart, and her mind.
