George Thomas Ford, age 84, lived with curiosity, generosity, and determination. He passed away July 26, 2026, at the Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL.

George was a Senior Employment Counselor for the State of Rhode Island for many years. Prior to that, he was a Claims Adjuster at the Employers Insurance Company of Wausau (now part of Liberty Mutual). He enjoyed the claims adjusting occupation immensely.

He was a proud graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI and Providence College (Class of 1965). He was grateful for the excellent education he received at LaSalle and enjoyed participating in Alumni activities in Florida.

George enjoyed spending time traveling with his family. He followed the Red Sox and the Montreal Canadiens and attended spring training games. He also enjoyed working on cars and antique radios, taking continuing education classes at the University of Rhode Island, and engaging in politics in his younger years, including campaigning for Senator Claiborne Pell. One favorite memory was seeing John Kennedy speak in downtown Providence when he was campaigning for President. George was outgoing and gregarious; he loved meeting friends for breakfast “to solve the world’s problems.”

He lived in Palm Bay, FL, but previously lived in: Warwick, RI, South Kingstown, RI (Green Hill Beach) for over 20 years, and Texas for about 10 years. He was raised in Providence, RI.
George is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Magdalene “Maggie” Ford; his two daughters: Regina M. Ford of Palm Bay, FL and Melanie G. Pierce of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one nephew; two nieces; and many friends and extended family members. He always tried to help his clients and colleagues at work. He is deeply missed by his wife, daughters, and his dog, Oreo.
