Vito Louis Blancato, born in the Bronx, New York, in 1934, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Vito was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend who truly lived for his family.

He shared more than 68 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary. Together, they traveled the world, shared a beautiful life, and created countless cherished memories. Their love and happiness were a true reflection of the life they built together.

Vito was also a remarkably creative and innovative man. A talented hairstylist and salon owner, he worked alongside two of his daughters and took great pride in his family. Always ahead of his time, in the late 1960s Vito and his business partner created a 45 RPM instructional record and accompanying manual called Smart Set, designed to teach hairstyling techniques—well before instructional videos became commonplace. Later, he created a computer imaging program when that technology was still in its infancy. These are just two examples of Vito’s creativity, vision, and willingness to embrace new ideas.

Vito is survived by his beloved wife of more than 68 years, Mary; his children, Caryl, Patti, and Joanne; his sister, Ann; his sons-in-law, who became an important part of his life and whom he loved dearly; and his many grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy. He was preceded in death by his beloved sons, James and Peter, who passed away before him. Vito’s greatest legacy is not only the many things he created, but the love he gave to his family. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
