Larry Gaukel

September 21, 1942 ~ August 27, 2026

Lawrence “Larry” Gaukel, aged 83 of Sebastian, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026 after a brief stay at the Ardie R. Copas State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Port St. Lucie. He was born in Braham, Minnesota, to Leo and Eva (Griner) Gaukel. Larry lived in the Los Angeles, California area for most of his life, graduating from Corona High School in 1960, after which he immediately enlisted in the United States Navy.

Larry served as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for more than 40 years. He was also a certified drug and alcohol counselor.

He had been a resident of Sebastian for nearly three years, having relocated from Boise, Idaho, to be near family after his wife, Anna Sue, passed away in 2023.

He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Dennis) Griffith and Soleil Gaukel; his son, Robert Gaukel; his granddaughters Alison Husmann, Londyn Garcia and Lexi Garcia; his grandsons Robert (Gaukel) Testa and Nicholas Gaukel; and his stepchildren Traci Martin, Christopher Poperszky, Amanda Fondren, and Thomas Poperszky.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Leo and Eva Gaukel; his wife, Anna Sue (Phillips) Gaukel; and his sister, Wanda.
