Agneta Ricks, 86, was born Agneta Pranér on June 2,1940 in Stockholm, Sweden to Sylvia Bengtson Pranér and George Pranér.

In her formative years Agneta lived with her family in Östermalm, Stockholm.  After attending the progressive Whitlockska samskolan she decided to pursue a career in the Swedish Diplomatic Corps.

Under Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs Agneta’s first station was in Malaga, Spain.  Later she was stationed in Barcelona, Spain and in 1968 was assigned to the Swedish Embassy in Washington, DC.  While in Washington she met her future husband Albert W. Ricks.  Shortly after their marriage in 1971 Agneta resigned from the diplomatic Corps.

Now a home maker living in Annapolis, MD Agneta was the family matriarch organizing and overseeing family activities.  As stepmother, she was an energetic and influential mentor to her 3 stepchildren teaching them about the benefits of eating high-quality nutritious foods, advanced education, foreign travel and proper manners & etiquette.

From 1971 – 2000 Agneta lived in Annapolis, MD where she enjoyed competitive tennis, cooking fine cuisine, boating and gardening.  Agneta and her husband owned many sail and power boats.  As enthusiastic sailors they cruised throughout Chesapeake Bay and ventured up and down the East coast to as far as Nova Scotia, the Florida Keys and the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea.  Every summer she organized a 2-week family sailing cruise with her stepchildren.  The family sailing adventures included cruises from Annapolis to New England or South Carolina and numerous sailing excursions in the British Virgin Islands.

In 2000 Agneta and Albert relocated to Grand Harbor in Vero Beach, FL where she continued to boat and took up competitive golf and boccie ball.  She served on the Grand Harbor Club House Committee overseeing club food and menus and enjoyed hosting semi-formal dinner parties at her home serving her guests her many tested haute cuisine recipes that she had perfected over decades.  She never wanted to serve guests the same meal twice.  Her many cookbooks were annotated in detail indicating when a particular recipe was served and to which guests.

After several months of illness Agneta passed away at home in Vero Beach, Florida on June 18, 2026.  Her brother Christer Pranér predeceased her.  Agneta is survived by her husband of 55 years Albert W. Ricks; her stepchildren David Ricks (Jo Lynn), Michael Ricks, and Robin Jabin (Rod) and 5 grandchildren; Rodrick Jabin, Addie Jabin, Andrew Ricks, Olivia Ricks and Margo Ricks.

A private celebration of life will be held at the Garden Club of Indian River County in Vero Beach, Florida.  She will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
