Albert Ovila LaBonte, passed away on April 28, 2025 at his home in Vero Beach at the age of 102.
He was born in Acushnet, MA, to the late Ovila and Georgianna Labonte, and had been a resident of Vero Beach for over 45 years, coming from Juno Beach, FL.
At a young age of 17, Mr. LaBonte completed high school early to enlist in the United Sates Army Airforce. A proud serviceman, he completed his training and became a pilot during WWII.
Following the war, he returned home and built a new life with the same dedication he showed in uniform. He achieved his Master Electrician Certificate in Chicago and became the first Master Electrician in Florida. As a successful electrician, Mr. LaBonte owned and operated Anode Electric and later Candlelight Lighting in Palm Beach County. He expanded his business north to Vero Beach until his retirement just twelve years ago. Mr. LaBonte was known by many along the Treasure Coast for his craftsmanship, problem-solving ability and unwavering work ethic.
His hours in an airplane did not end after his honorable discharge. He shared his love for flying with his wife, Donna. She also became a pilot and together enjoyed many trips in their Beechcraft V-tail Bonanza. They were members of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Aero Club for over 20 years.
Mr. LaBonte leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife of 58 years, Donna LaBonte; daughter, Theresa Rosell; stepdaughters, Nancy Youngs and April (Joe) Wetherell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as countless friends and fellow pilots whose lives he touched.
He was predeceased by his children, Debbie LaBonte, Diane McCarthy, and Alan LaBonte.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
