Beverly Letha Newland, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, surrounded by family who adored her, after a life defined by generosity, grace, and quiet devotion to others.
Born on July 11, 1933, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Beverly was a woman whose presence brought calm, kindness, and beauty wherever she went. She shared a remarkable life with her beloved husband, Richard Eldon Newland, whose service in the United States Navy took them to naval stations across the country and around the world. As a Navy wife, Beverly built community wherever they landed; serving faithfully, teaching music, and offering warmth and friendship to all who crossed her path.
A gifted pianist and lifelong educator, Beverly taught piano for decades, nurturing not only musical skill but confidence, discipline, and joy in hundreds of students. Music was her language of love. She served as organist for every church community she joined along her journey, most notably at the United Church of Christ in Miami Lakes and later at Glades Presbyterian Church in Boca Raton. Some of her students went on to professional music careers, including performances on Broadway.
After Richard’s retirement from the Navy in 1964, they settled in South Florida, living in Miami Lakes before making Boca Raton their home in 1985.
Beverly is survived by her devoted sons, Guy Newland and his wife Raykeisha Newland of Orlando, Florida, and Grant Newland of Melbourne, Florida; her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Lin Newland of Arlington, Virginia; Richard Aaron Newland and his wife Mandy Froehlic of Boynton Beach, Florida; Suzanne Newland and her husband Matt Coxe of Winter Garden, Florida; Kimberly Carbonara and her fiancé Mitchell Melot of Tuttle, Oklahoma; Amy George and her husband Brian George of Vero Beach, Florida; Rebecca Daharsh and her husband Michael Daharsh of Tampa, Florida; and Sam Newland of Chicago, Illinois.
She was the proud great-grandmother of Violet Jayne and Aralin Natalie Moore, Hayden and Quinn Irwin, Adam and Alexandra George, Atlas, Isla, and Asher Daharsh, and Isabella and Gianni Carbonara; each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made in Beverly’s memory to Glades Presbyterian Church of Boca Raton or the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Beverly Newland will be remembered as a woman of uncommon kindness, elegance, unwavering faith, and quiet strength; a true lady in every sense, whose legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
