Carol Dutton Barreiro

December 25, 1952 ~ December 20, 2025

Carol Dutton Barreiro, age 72, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on December 20, 2025, following a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She fought hard and battled up to the very end, passing just days before her 73rd birthday on Christmas Day.
Born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts, Carol spent her early years in Phoenix, Arizona before returning to Lynn as a teenager. She later moved to New Jersey, where she spent most of her adult life, building a warm and loving home for her family. Eventually, she and her husband Tony settled on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where they owned and operated a restaurant for several years, creating a gathering place filled with the same welcoming energy Carol was known for. In 2020, Carol and Tony decided to trade the cold for sunshine and eventually made their home in Vero Beach.
Carol lived for her family and friends. Nothing brought her more joy than a full house and a full table – afternoons spent in conversation, holiday celebrations buzzing with laughter, or simple visits on any ordinary day. She had a remarkable gift for connecting with people. Whether on yearly trips to Key West or traveling elsewhere, she effortlessly made new friends – often discovering that they came from places she had once called home. Her warmth, openness, and genuine interest in others made her unforgettable to all who met her.
Carol is predeceased by her father, Jack Dutton, and her mother, Alice Dutton.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 24 years, Anthony “Tony” Barreiro; her daughter, Melanie Ryan, and her husband, Neal, of Plymouth, Massachusetts; her son, Michael Doyle of Raleigh, North Carolina; her stepsons Anthony Barreiro and his wife Tara of Cornelius, South Carolina, Jesse Barreiro of Hackettstown, New Jersey, and Danny Barreiro and his wife Alisha, of Flanders, New Jersey. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Aiden, Morgan, and Abigail Chaloner, and Hannah and Cameron Barreiro, along with her brother, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, neighbors, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout the years.
Carol’s legacy of love, hospitality, and friendship lives on in all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
