Edward John Hunneyman Jr., 86, formerly of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on August 26, 1939, in Oneida, New York, Ed was the beloved son of the late Edward John Hunneyman, Sr. and Norma Gillmore Hunneyman. He graduated from Oneida High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. On September 16, 1967, Ed married Linda Faye O’Leary in Pensacola, Florida, and together they shared 45 wonderful years until Linda’s passing in 2013.
A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Ed served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, flying 560 combat missions and earning numerous commendations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Cross of Gallantry. After his military service, he served 25 years as an FBI Special Agent in the Saint Louis and Dallas Field Offices, as well as the Fort Worth, Texas and Montgomery, Alabama Resident Agencies. Ed continued his law enforcement career by serving 10 years as a Special Agent with the Office of the Alabama Attorney General, retiring in 2004.
Ed generously gave his time to the community and was an active member of Frazer Church in Montgomery, Alabama, serving as an usher and participating in the “Roll Up Your Sleeves” ministry. He was also involved with the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Helicopter Association, Marine Corps League, Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, Wetumpka OFC, and the Capitol City Corvette Club.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Knudsen Day of Portland, Maine; daughter, Christy Hunneyman Flurry (Matthew) of Auburn, Alabama; son, Guy Edward Hunneyman (Erin) of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dylan, Zachary, Anna, and Luke Flurry, and Evalyn and Elise Hunneyman; and sisters, Carol Joan Johnson of Oneida, New York, and Linda Jeanne Park (William) of Rome, New York.
Services will be held in Alabama at a later date.

Visitation | Funeral Service | Internment
Visitation will be held at The Founder’s Chapel at Frazer Church, Montgomery, Alabama, on November 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m.
Interment with Military Honors will take place at Town Creek Cemetery, Auburn, Alabama, at 2:00 p.m.
