Elwood Franklin Shoultz

July 15, 1931 ~ April 15, 2025

Elwood (Woody) Franklin Shoultz, also known as Frank Schults, passed away on April 15, 2025 in Brevard County, Florida at the age of 93.

Born on July 15, 1931 in rural Warrick County, Indiana, Woody grew up in Pike County, Indiana. He proudly served in the Army before embarking on a career that would span over three decades. Woody worked as the Head Custodian for the St. Louis School Corporation, where he dedicated himself to his job and the community.

After retiring, Woody returned to Petersburg, Indiana for several years before making Palm Bay, Florida his permanent home in 2004. In Florida, he embraced an active lifestyle, enjoying golfing, bowling, billiards, bicyling, and shuffleboard. He was a regular at the Palm Bay Estates Community Center, where he loved playing Texas Hold’em and other card games with his many friends.

Woody was cherished by all who knew him. He was known for his loving nature, kindness, charm, intelligence, and sense of humor. A true jack of all trades, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his father Ozzie Shoultz; mother Mildred Parker; son Elwood Franklin Shoultz Jr.; brothers John and Doyal; and sisters Joyce and Loyce.

Woody is survived by his sisters Norma, Gloria, Bonnie, and Theresa; brother Carl; daughters Deanna, Yvonne, Karen, Donna, and Tenna; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Woody was cremated in Florida. VFW graveside services will be held at Sunset Cemetery in Winslow, Indiana at 10 AM on September 21, 2025. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VFW of Petersburg, Indiana or the Palm Bay Estates Community in Palm Bay, Florida.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
