Georgia Ann Schaefer, 77, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away August 12, 2025, at Treasure Coast Hospice. She was born June 26, 1948, in Champaign, IL to the late James and Mildred Hilligoss.
Georgia often was referred to as “Peaches” to those who loved and had the pleasure to truly get to know her. Always quick with a warm smile, and funny quote or joke. Whether it was a checkout clerk at a grocery store, nurses at a cancer center, or a stranger at a restaurant, she made it her life’s mission to share a little joy and smile to all. This can be understood by her love of Flamingos and Christmas, which are both whimsical and full of joy.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by her children, Bob, and his wife Chris, Schaefer; Lori, her husband Mark, Paiz; Ray, and his wife Kelly, Schaefer and partner, Hector Baro; sister, Linda Henning; brother, Gary Hilligoss; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A remembrance ceremony will be held in Illinois, with details to come.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice Foundation at 1201 SE Indian St, Stuart, FL. 34997 or treasurehealth.org/donate. Ensure to select “This gift is in honor, memory, or support of someone” and provide Georgia’s name and additional information as requested.

Oh Georgia, you will be missed…. The world needs people like you to keep us smiling…. To this day, when I hear a forklift beep (or a similar sounding horn), I think of you! The way you transformed our quiet office in an instant, with your infectious sense of humor was remarkable. Everyday when that forklift honked like clockwork, your voice would penetrate the silence and transform it into giggles….”gotta go, my rides here” this daily ritual never got old and I laughed every time. You truly had a gift and a great laugh. Rest in peace dear friend, heaven will be smiling a lot more with you around that’s for sure!
