Howard Aronowitz, 82, passed away peacefully on February 15th in Jupiter, Florida.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York City, Howard worked many jobs throughout his career. He was a Tiffany’s Manager, Commercial Fisherman, Entrepreneur, Cab Driver, Fulton Fish Market Peace Officer, 9/11 First Responder, Private Yacht Captain, Practical Joker, Avid Yankee Fan, and Lover of EVERY dog.
Howard felt truly at home on the sea, having held his Captain’s license for 50 years. From ferries, to fishing boats, to yachts, he had 100s of stories to tell you of his adventures. “Everyone always asks if I’ve seen a shark, OF COURSE. I’ve seen thousands of sharks!”
Howard was kind, loyal, generous, and very stubborn, but we loved him for it.
He is survived by 5 children (Phylicia, Jay, Bob, Kristie, Rob), their spouses (Alex, Jessica, Gwen), 5 grandchildren (Albertine, Anthony, Jasmine, Jaidyn, Jordyn), countless friends, and 1 Jack Russell Terrier; all of whom will miss him very much. Take a moment to appreciate the sea for Captain Howie.
His ashes will be scattered into the ocean in a private family ceremony.
