Judith Rose Gallaher (Zimmerman)

November 01, 1939 ~ September 18, 2025

Judith Rose Gallaher, “Judy,” 85, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 1, 1939, Judy arrived into the world just minutes before her beloved twin sister, Jacqueline. She was the daughter of John and Agnes Zimmerman and a proud graduate of Langley High School, Class of 1957.

Judy’s early years were filled with variety and creativity—she worked in banking, advertising, and even lent her keen eye for detail to her family’s floral business. In June 1978, she and her family made the move to Vero Beach, where she continued to grow professionally and personally. Judy spent nearly two decades as a personnel manager with Kmart Corporation, retiring after 19 years to focus on what mattered most to her: family.

A woman of sharp wit and quiet strength, Judy had a mind for crosswords that could rival the Sunday New York Times, and a quick smile that never failed to brighten a room. She and her husband of 62 years, Joe Gallaher Sr., shared a deep love for Carolina shag music and dancing—rhythms that mirrored the joy and ease of their life together.

Judy’s greatest pride was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a steadfast sister. She is survived by her husband Joe; son Joe Gallaher Jr. and daughter-in-law Martha Sue; grandson Ryan Gallaher; granddaughter Sydney Lyons; her twin sister Jacqueline Smith; sisters Susan Gregg, Christean Volz, and Ruthie Jones; and brother John Zimmerman.

She now joins her cherished daughter, Jill Ann Gallaher, who preceded her in death in July 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Judy’s memory by dancing to your favorite song, completing a crossword in ink, or simply holding your loved ones a little closer.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
