Katherine (Konicki) Farnham Quinn of Vero Beach, Florida died unexpectedly with her beloved son, Luke, by her side on January 8, 2026 following a brief illness. Katherine (Kathy to many) was born at Rockville General Hospital on March 13, 1956 to Marie and Joseph Konicki. Raised in Rockville, CT, Kathy attended Saint Bernard School and later Rockville High School, where she graduated in 1974. Kathy resided in Rockville for much of her life, later relocating to Colorado and spending winters in Florida, where she would eventually live year-round.
Kathy’s love of the beach was known to many; she could often be found collecting sea shells and basking in the warmth of the sun. She also was fond of gardening, getting her hands dirty in the soil in service of making things grow, live, and thrive. Kathy was an excellent speller, gifted in her use of the written word, with a knack for poetry that made witness her sensitivity, intellect, and imagination.
Though her stubbornness could be frustrating, Kathy’s tenacity, resilience, and resourcefulness were forces to be reckoned with. Her keen intelligence, stalwart determination, and abiding love for those she held dear were not only admirable but enviable. Among many things, Kathy will be remembered for her hearty and utterly distinctive laugh, her free-spirited, somewhat bohemian nature, and the unique presence of being only she could provide.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, and leaves behind her son, Luke, husband Tom Quinn of Colorado Springs, siblings Mary Anne Konicki of Rockville, Michael (Cheryl) Konicki of Rockville, Elizabeth (Jim) Nolan of Enfield, and Barbara Konicki of South Windsor, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends old and new. Services will be held at Saint Bernard Church on Friday, January 30 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to any charity of your choosing in her honor, but more importantly, tell somebody dear to you that you love them, even if it’s hard to do. It’s always worth it.

So, so sad. But, she went out swinging and fought to the end. The beach was always her happy place, where she often took pictures of the sunsets and the moon. She’d send me her pictures via text message with the message simply says “my happy place”. Thinking of you, Tom, and her son, Luke.
