Laurie “Jill” (Nagel) Rodriguez of Sebastian, FL, went to heaven on August 16th, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Born in Hialeah, FL, on November 14th, 1961 to parents Stephen Nagel and Bettye (Bates) Nagel, Jill lived a life full of love, service, and joy. She moved to Sebastian in 2003, bringing with her the warmth and spirit that touched everyone she met.
Jill attended Hialeah High School, where she was a proud majorette and a member of the Dolphin Dolls. On August 27th, 1988, she married the love of her life, Sergio Rodriguez, beginning a beautiful journey together filled with family, laughter, and devotion.
Her career began at the Hialeah Parks Department, where she worked with special needs adults, offering compassion and care. She later found her true calling as an elementary school teacher, dedicating most of her life to educating and inspiring young minds. Jill also coached volleyball and cheerleading, always encouraging her students with positivity and heart.
Jill loved life deeply. She was the most selfless, caring, and optimistic person—never seeing the bad in anyone, only the good. Her home was a haven for family, friends, exchange students, and animals of all sorts. Especially her sons’ friends, where holidays, cooking, crafts, and laughter filled the air. She was known as a mom to many, but truly the ultimate baseball mom to her two sons, Ryan and Raymond. Her greatest joy came in the precious years she spent with her grandsons, Knox and Maddox.
Even through her battle with cancer, Jill’s light never dimmed. She fought with grace and a smile every day, always offering a hug and warmth to those around her. Her presence lit up every room, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Jill is survived by her loving husband, Sergio Rodriguez; her sons, Ryan Rodriguez (wife Nicolette) and Raymond Rodriguez; her cherished grandsons, Knox and Maddox Rodriguez; her brothers, Steve Nagel and Kurt Nagel (wife Jayne); nephews Aaron Nagel (wife Jessica) and Adam Nagel; nieces Victoria Nagel, Emily Nagel, and Kate Nagel Covey; great-nephews Sean Nagel, Aiden Nagel, and Hunter Nagel; and sister-in-laws Ileana Fraga and Rebecca Terry.
Jill’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire kindness, joy, and love.
A celebration of Jill’s life will be held at a later date. The family appreciates your love and support during this time.

Jill was the definition of warmth and hospitality and welcomed everyone with genuine love to her home and her heart. I will forever be grateful for the many family meals I was invited to and for her friendship, her welcoming attitude always, her caring demeanor, and her humor too. Her smile lit the room and embraced all. She will surely be missed. And was truly loved.

I’ve only known Jill a short time. My niece Nicolette has her as a Mother-in-law. What a gift and blessing Jill has been in her life. Knox & Maddox to young to somewhat understand. Jill was one of those people who always leaves you feeling good to be in her presence. Always making sure you had enough food. Her world revolved around her boys Ryan & Raymond a very proud Mom indeed. Family was extremely important to Jill.

Jill brought so much joy, love, and warmth to those around her. While it’s hard to say goodbye, I hope we can celebrate her life and hold onto the many ways she made this world brighter. Even though she is no longer with us, her beautiful soul will never be forgotten. May you rest in peace my beautiful friend!

The Vance family had known Jill since early childhood. Her Mother Betty and her brothers not only went to elementary school with us but also attended the same church. Jill and my sister Laura became best friends and continued the friendship throughout their lives.
I’m sending my deepest heartfelt prayers and condolences to Sergio, her sons, grandsons, brothers, all family and friends. We will never forget our beautiful Jill. May she rest peacefully.

Jill was truly a memory maker. She had a deep love for nature and for all animals, big and small. Sunflowers and sea turtles always bring her to mind. Above all, Jill cherished her family, holding them closest to her heart.
Her greatest gift was the giving of herself. She had a way of making new friends feel like family, and once you had her as a friend, you had a friend for life.
I am so grateful for the many memories we shared together. They are treasures I hold close as I miss my dear friend.

I have known Jill since high school and we had many amazing and fun adventures with our friend Terri. Jill was a great and loving person with a wonderful personality and spirit. She was generous and gave of her self so much but never asked for or expected anything in return. She set a great example for all that knew her. I send my heartfelt sympathy and prayers to Sergio, Ryan, Raymond, and all her family members.

I met Jill 2012. We just clicked immediately. She was so friendly & sweet natured. She had a deep Love for her family, and cared, lovingly for her mom. I’ll miss our lunches, her favorite was TooJay’s matzaball soup! It was my great honor to speak with her during our lunches about Jesus and about a year ago she accepted Christ and was baptized. She’s with him now

Jill was an exceptional person. May you rest in peace, my friend and I’m sorry I didn’t make it up there to see you. We did have many laughs with you bringing your mom.(Betty Nagel.) and yourself to my salon for many years. I do hope you’re together with our Lord and our resting in peace. You truly were a very good friend.
