What can you say about someone who lived life to the fullest, was always up for adventure, never met a stranger, was a loyal and devoted friend to so many, was brave, joyful, and can never be forgotten? It won’t be enough to honor this truly remarkable human.
Lottie May Bose Hunter came into this world on September 22,1942 in Corbin, Kentucky. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and dear friends, in Sebastian, Florida on October 8, 2025.
After graduating from Corbin High School, Lottie didn’t settle down as was expected of most of the women of her time. Instead, she pursued a nursing career and joined the Navy. During her time in the military, she traveled the world and was stationed in far-flung places like Japan and the Philippines. But Florida became her home and where she spent most of her days, as a true lover of the beach and warm weather. She would go on work for decades in the nursing and medical field, not officially retiring until she was well into her 70s. She was also in her 70s when she traveled to Italy, went ziplining for the first time, and learned to play the ukulele.
Lottie married Boyd Hunter when she was 38 and they welcomed Adam, her pride and joy. She was a devoted mother who spoke so proudly of the man, husband and father he became. And her grandson, Finn, was the apple of her eye. There was no one who could make her smile like that precious little boy.
Lottie was also beloved by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The true matriarch of the family, she was instrumental in bringing together the near and distant cousins, in both relations and miles, for several family reunions. She kept the records and shared the stories with the younger generations, ensuring the colorful history of the Bose clan would not be forgotten.
There are countless friends Lottie made and kept throughout her life. As a world traveler and a long-time resident of the state of Florida, the friends she made along the way became loyal and steadfast. The definition of a social butterfly, she was often the life of the party and told the best stories. And her dedication to these dear friends would be evident in how many of them came together to take care of her in recent years. In the truest sense of the word, they are also her family.
