Marjorie Hewett Yale, a beloved educator and accomplished real estate professional, passed away peacefully July 16, 2025 at the age of 89, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Holyoke, MA in 1936, Marjorie was known for her intelligence, warmth, and unwavering dedication to every endeavor she undertook. She began her career in education, spending 15 meaningful years as a teacher. In the classroom, she was a compassionate and inspiring presence, shaping the lives of countless students with her patience, insight, and belief in the power of learning.
Following her work in education, Marjorie transitioned into a second career in real estate, where she quickly made a name for herself through her tireless work ethic, integrity, and deep commitment to her clients. Her excellence in the field was recognized with multiple honors, including twice being named Central Massachusetts Realtor of the Year as well as receiving the distinguished Greater Massachusetts Board of Realtors’ Realtor of the Year award. In addition to her work selling real estate she also volunteered her time as VP and then President of the Greater Worcester Board of Realtors, as the Regional VP of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors, and as VP of Habitat for Humanity for Worcester County.
Marjorie’s success was matched only by her generosity. She mentored new agents, advocated for professional standards in the industry, and remained deeply involved in community affairs throughout her life. Her ability to connect with people, whether in a classroom or during a home sale, was a true gift.
Marge or Jorie, as she was informally called, loved travel, card games, and reading. She cherished her time spent at their home on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH with family and friends. Being a person who had to keep active, she was frequently found with a rake in hand, whether it be to clear leaves from the lawn or the flotsam from the beach. She ran a tidy ship!
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Yale, her children Jonathan (Suzanne) Yale, Catharine (George) Abid, Carolyn (Robert) Monko, and Deborah (Lawrence) Goldberg, her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, James (Peggy) Hewett and brother-in-law Richard (Mary Anne) Yale as well as extended family and many friends, who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James D. Hewett and Marjorie I. Hewett (née Clark), her sister Joan Neelans and brother-in-law Alan Neelans, and her son-in-law Lawrence Goldberg.
The family will conduct a private ceremony.
Marjorie Hewett Yale lived a life of purpose, grace, and impact. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

I first met Marge in 1986 when I started working at the Worcester Board of REALTORS in MA. She was always gracious and elegant and I admired her as a volunteer. In 1992, Marge became a President of our REALTOR Association in Worcester and represented us at the state and national level. She was a recipient of all of our major awards and served on our Professional Standards Committee upholding the REALTOR Code of Ethics. Then Marge got Bob involved with commercial real estate and MLS so we had twice as many moments. I always admired the husband and wife real estate teams. It took amazing commitment to be together 24/7. I have many wonderful memories of those years and will remember her fondly.

So Sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure having worked with Marge during her career in real estate. She was a true professional in business and gave generously of her time to the Realtor organization.
