Mark Peter Wyner, 69, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida, with his loving family at his side.
Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on March 1,1956, Mark was the son of the late Joseph and Janice (Purrier) Wyner and brother of Anthony Wyner who predeceased him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Catherine (Schmitz) Wyner and son, Mark Jr. and his wife Martina, and their children Kevin, Sophia, and Jesse. He is also survived by siblings Robert Wyner (Chris Boesch) of Vero Beach, Florida; Richard Wyner of Plaistow, New Hampshire; Christine Madsen (Michael) of Vero Beach, Florida; and Ronald (Allyson) Wyner of Groveland, Massachusetts.
Mark grew up in Boxford, Massachusetts, surrounded by nature, where he learned to appreciate the beauty and value of his environment, which forged the path he would pursue later in life. He attended Masconomet Regional High School and was a stand-out athlete, lettering in three sports. He pursued a degree in turf management at the University of Massachusetts and Essex North Shore Agricultural School and while in college, Mark was diagnosed with type one diabetes. He faced this formidable challenge with his typical fighting spirit.
He went on to enjoy a successful career in golf course management as an assistant golf superintendent at several clubs in Westchester County, including the prestigious Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York. He then founded his own landscaping company with commercial and residential clients in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Before his retirement due to health issues and his move to Spring,Texas, and later to Vero Beach, he was the park supervisor for Binney Park and Tod’s Point in the Town of Greenwich.
Mark was dedicated to his family and friends and loved to entertain and share his zest for life. At the annual Wyner family reunions, there were always memorable “Mark moments” that were celebrated for years to come. He was also known for his distinctive collection of hats and tee shirts for all occasions.
A lifelong lover of sustainable green spaces, he could often be found creating gardens and sanctuary spaces in his own homes. He also found great enjoyment in various crafts when his health no longer allowed him to spend long hours outside and he gifted his family with unique items that will be cherished always.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I have many fond memories of Mark- some included beer and video games but most included laughter. I’ll never forget the beautiful deck and garden Mark created in his and Cathy’s Norwalk home. His contagious smile, silly jokes and joie de vive and how he made you feel so special, is what I will remember most! Love you Mark !
Sending love to the family and especially to my sweet friend Cathy !

What a beautiful tribute. I only knew Mark for a short time. He was a blessing to my parents and a true and wonderful friend to them. My Dad loved Mark like a son. When he was dying at the hospice house last year he kept asking where is Mark. Someone above sent Mark to them and to him as well. My deepest sympathy to Cathy and his entire family. I will miss him but know he is in a special place. Hope he and my Dad are having a wonderful reunion.
