Marvin Harold Klein, 83, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Born on January 4, 1942, in Howell, Michigan, Marvin was the beloved son of Wilford and Vera Klein. He grew up in both Michigan and California. After graduating from Grossmont High School in El Cajon, CA, he attended Anderson College (now Anderson University) in Anderson, Indiana.
In his early years, Marvin enjoyed racing his horse, Midge, and rebuilding cars. His adventurous spirit took him across the country, where he built 60-Minute Dry Cleaners. A passionate aviator, Marvin held an impressive array of pilot licenses, including Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Single-Engine, Multi-Engine, Instrument Rating, Seaplane, and Glider. He was a long-time member of the Melbourne Quiet Birdmen (Melb. QB).
Marvin came to Vero Beach to serve as the condominium manager when John’s Island was founded and later established his own property management company, Marvin’s Management & Maintenance. In partnership with his son, he built and operated storage facilities in the area.
Though quiet, shy, or even reserved at first glance, those who took the time to know Marvin discovered a treasure—kind, generous, quietly humorous, resilient, with an unshakable work ethic, and deeply devoted to his faith and family.
He had a lifelong love of flying, camping, and water sports. From water skiing at Cypress Gardens to teaching church youth how to fish and jet ski, to simply taking loved ones out on the Indian River, Marvin found joy in sharing these experiences with others.
His commitment to serving others was unwavering. A lifelong member of Pathway Church (formerly First Church of God in Anderson, Indiana), Marvin remained active in his faith throughout his life. He was active in Primetimers at Pathway Church in Vero Beach. He supported the Gideons in distributing Bibles, participated in missionary outreach, and gathered supplies for Missionary Flights International. His home was a place of welcome—hosting church gatherings and holiday meals for those without family.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jo-An Klein; his children, Steven (Jeanne) Klein and Susan (Raymond) Harris; his grandchildren, Tracy (Mike) Klein, Christopher (Jamie) Klein, Briana Giovannone, and Dominick Giovannone; great-grandchildren: Kirstin, Beau, Braelyn, and Jolie; and his sister, LaVonne Walker. Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made payable to Pathway Church. On the memo line, please specify donations to “New Gen,” the youth program, in Marvin’s honor.

Beloved Brother and friend,- Marvin was also a faithful member of the Faith Builder’s Sunday School Class at Pathway Church.
We traveled some with Marvin & Jo-An in a Caravan of Motor Home Friends, heard many boating stories, and interesting stories about his flying experiences. We had some wonderful experiences gathering around the fire pit with incredible friends.
Miss Jo-An has faithfully stood by his side, and Marvin’s family have been exceptionally attentive.
We offer much love and appreciation to the Klein family!

I was privileged to be his pastor when he & his dear family moved to Vero Beach in the 1970’s. We loved them. He was a blessing to the church. I was in my mid twenties & he was 5 years older. He was always encouraging me & we enjoyed being together. He served on our board & gave valuable insight & leadership during our growth as we relocated the congregation. It was a beautiful adventure. We have treasured that church & mainlined being good friends into our retirement. Thank you Marvin for that journey together. See you on heaven, forever friend.

Marvin was a unique friend over my 44 years of knowing him. His stories were legendary. We enjoyed many many fishing trips, home cooked dinners, and social events over the years. I was his pastor for 10 years. He was a faithful warrior in the Kingdom of
God. He was truly one of my special friends. I loved the big guy.

Marvin was my roommate while he was at Anderson. We remained friends for over 65 years. O could he tell stories! We went deep sea fishing when he had his boat. A quiet man of God but never wavering in his faith. He loved his family and you never wandered how he stood on any subject. Even though we did not see each other often, he will always be in my mind. See you on the other side, roomie!

To my precious friend, Jo-An and Steven and Susan and all family …. You had quite a gem in your husband and father! Jo-An, We enjoyed many a gathering with you guys since 1983 when we started attending First Church of God. His demand for a hug will always be remembered fondly. He would stop to see us in Fredericksburg Va whenever delivering a car. His humor still puts a smile on my face. I can still see him and a few other crazy men flying out of their raft on a white water rafting Lynx trip we took! He was always the center of Fun and Laughter. He won the heart of all who knew him and will be missed BIG! See you in eternity my dear friend ❤️

Marvin (Mr. Klein to me) was a unique and very special man to me. While a contemporary to many responding here, Mr. Klein was a respected adult who became a very influential man in my young life. I had the privilege to be given the opportunity to work a number of jobs under his supervision. I was able to do odd jobs working directly for him at his home before being afforded the opportunity to spend several summers working in maintenance jobs at John’s Island. I was also given the opportunity to detail vehicles for his clients ahead of their return to Vero for the winter as well as detailing his personal airplanes. I got to experience the kindness others have referenced getting to fly with him on a number of occasions. I didn’t really know the quiet reserved Marvin. With me, he was a true prankster. Perhaps most importantly, I learned a great deal about what quality work looked like. My first attempts detailing his clients cars did not meet his high standards. He had a unique way of holding me accountable to his standards without demeaning or discouraging me in any way. Mr. Klein motivated me to be better, to do better, and rewarded me for my efforts. As the years passed, I came to know him a friend. I will miss so much about this man. I was blessed to have known him. Rest well my friend!

Marvin and Jo-An were wonderful friends of my parents. I met Marvin when I was 10. He had just become our neighbor in Pine Castle. We lived in rental homes between an orange grove and Lake Conway. I remember Marvin and my father trying to outdo each other when skiing. That was the beginning of a wonderful and lifelong friendship with my parents and our family. Marvin also took me and each of my four siblings for our first airplane rides. We all fondly remember him as a wonderful, fun-loving, and caring friend of the family. We will miss him, and we will cherish our memories. Condolences to the family from the Sears kids.
