Nancy Jane Connell (McDonald / Vermillion) 12/18/41 – 10/27/25
It is with deep sadness we mourn the passing of our Mother / Grandmother / Sister Nancy Jane Connell. She was preceded in death by her parents Nile and Jane Vermillion, sister Linda Fedewa and husband John Connell. She is survived by her sisters Andrea Taylor of Los Alamos, NM, Barbara Hollembaek of Las Vegas, NV and her two sons and their spouses Scott & Lisa McDonald of Los Lunas, NM and Eric & Enikö McDonald of Mount Pleasant, NC as well as her Grandson Liam McDonald of Loveland, CO.
Nancy was born in St Joseph, MO on December 18th, 1941 and was raised in the Greater Lansing, MI area. Over the years since then her wandering spirit and love of a good road trip had carried her from coast to coast and a multitude of places she called home.
I believe her true love of the Rocky Mountains with the varied beauty they possess as well as the desert Southwest, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Ocean inspired her love of exploration and adventure.
The last several months of her journey allowed her to connect and spend time with her grandson. He was her caregiver and confidant. It was an invaluable experience for them both.
Nancy will be truly missed but I find comfort in knowing she is in the loving embrace of the Lord now.
Her final wishes, to have her ashes combined with her beloved husbands’ and spread in one of her favorite locations, will be carried out by her grandson Liam.
There will be no formal services surrounding her passing.
