Richard Boyd McGinnis Sr, 78, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2025.
He was born on February 21, 1947 to Robert and Charlotte McGinnis and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.
He is survived by his children, Michael Boyd McGinnis; Stephen Douglas McGinnis; Robert Becker LaBoiteaux, III (stepson), Richard Boyd McGinnis II, Benjamin Boyd McGinnis, and Katheleen Marie Beard.
Richard McGinnis Sr served in the United States Army band. His love for music brought many musical weekends and holidays. He perfected the way to play taps, and played it beautifully for all those who listened.
Richard spent his professional career within the United States Postal Service, where he retired as an International Manager in 2007. After retiring, he spent his time building a log cabin in Biglerville, PA. The winters were brutal and he decided to move to Florida where he stayed for the remainder of his days.
To know him was to love him. He was a devoted brother, father, and grandfather to many. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, cherishing the small moments in life, and gave back to the community any way possible. He was always available to answer a call, to work through a problem, and to congratulate on all successes. He stood proud beside his family. He didn’t care about the mistakes made, or the problems ahead. He was there to help guide and to offer support. His loss has and will always have an everlasting impact on our family. He will be deeply missed by many and his passing has created a void that will never be completely healed.
May he forever rest in peace and may he finally be with our Lord and Savior. Continue to take care of us, we will always love you.
Our caring professionals are here to assist you and your family during this difficult time. We are available 24 hours, 7 days a week to assist in immediate arrangements or pre-arrangements.

Such a wonderful member of our family. Richard was more than a brother-in-law to me but a brother who cared so much about his family. He was there for me when I needed a shoulder to cry on and there to listen and never judge. He brought so much joy and laughter to our family. He will be missed by so many. RIP I know that Richard, Mike and Robert are watching over us. Sending all my love.
