Richard “Rick” McFeaters, 79, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, lots of off-color jokes, and a massive void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Rick carried that PA spirit with him to Florida, trading snow for sunshine. Rick was an avid cruciverbalist and dissectologist, train lover, as well as model-maker of all military vehicles, & classic car models. And there wasn’t a trivia game he couldn’t win! Cruising with family was his absolute favorite vacation. Known for his legendary, raunchy sense of humor, and delicious yearly Christmas cookies and nut roll, he had a unique gift for winning over a room, usually by saying the one thing no one else dared to.
Beyond all else, he was a man of immense heart. He was a fiercely loyal husband, a loving father, a dedicated grandfather, and a true friend who would give you the shirt off his back to help you through a hard time.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Shelley; his daughters Tammy (& Mark, son-in-law; Kyle, grandson) Brader, Susan (& Rob, son-in-law) Andrews, Deborah (& Chad, son-in-law; Logan, grandson & Sydney, granddaughter) Conant; son Rick (& Tonya, daughter-in-law; Megan, granddaughter, & her husband Ramone & great-grandchildren Zayde & Maddox) Thomas; and nephew Terry (& Kim, spouse, grand-nieces Lacey & Abby) Gearhart.
He will be missed for the way he made life feel a little less heavy just by being in the room.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions as a memorial be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997
