Richard “Dick” Tressler

January 23, 1939 ~ February 08, 2026

Richard (Dick) Wayne Tressler, 87 of Vero Beach, FL entered peacefully into God’s kingdom on February 8, 2026. Dick was born on January 23, 1939 in Chicago, IL. Upon high school graduation, Dick joined the Navy where he served for 5 years as a cook on a Navy minesweeper and submarine. For several of those years, he was stationed in Key West which was where he first developed his love of tropical weather and his desire to one day live in Florida. His dream of living in Florida eventually came true and he was a happy resident of Vero Beach for over 50 years.
Dick met his wife of almost 66 years, Patricia (Pat) Sinclair Tressler, at a Navy dance in Groton, CT where he was attending naval training.
Dick worked for 35 years for the telephone company (Bell South/AT&T) as a toll testman. His true love was working in his yard and he was widely known to have a very green thumb. He was truly one of the most selfless human beings and he never knew a stranger. Dick was very active in St. Helen Catholic Church, he loved the Lord and he lived out his life with a true servant’s heart.
Dick is survived by his wife Pat of Vero Beach, FL; one son, Rick (Julie); one daughter, Loreen Spencer (Marc); four grandchildren, Richard Waye Tressler III, Katie Tressler Rutland (Gil), Jillan Spencer Handzel (Jeremy), and Jake Spencer; two great grandchildren Quinn Rutland and June Handzel; a niece Jenee Loftus and a nephew Robert Wood.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Laura Tressler, and his sister, Joreen Wood.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Vero Beach, FL at a time to be announced.

Dear Pat, Rick and Loreen,
We are so deeply sorry for your loss. It is difficult to fully express just how much Dick meant to us. As you know, he was one of the very first neighbors to welcome us when we moved to Sun Villa more than 22 years ago, and over the years he became not only a friend, but also Mark’s longtime biking and breakfast buddy.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have shared in his life and friendship. His humor and kindness will be missed more than words can say.
Wishing all of you and the family comfort and peace in the days ahead.

Condolences to the family …….
Dick will be truly missed. A talented man an awsome volunteer; Dick would show up and work! A gentle giant. Most of my memories were countless hours he devoted at the St Helens Harvest Festival.
RIP Dick

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
