Sandra Storer Donahue

November 05, 1937 ~ June 24, 2025

Sandra Storer Donahue of Port Saint Lucie, FL, passed peacefully from this life into eternity on Thursday June 24, at home with family at her side.

Sandra, the daughter of Nellie (Nell) Hartley Moore and Theodore C Howard, was born in Miami, FL on November 5, 1937. When Sandy was 5, her mother married Anthony Woisznies. “Tony” adored Sandy and joyfully stepped into the role of Father or “Pop.” Her Aunt Bertie was also a big influence in her life and the three of them, Sandy, Nell, and Bertie, referred to themselves as the Three Musketeers going on trips together which she often recalled as being some of the most fun times of her life. She was athletic and excelled as a cheerleader in high school and also loved bowling, playing softball, and ice skating.

She graduated from Barry College in 1955 which is where she met Josemarie Garland who was to become her lifelong “sister-friend.” She went to work for Storer Broadcasting in South Florida as the Secretary to the Treasurer and not long thereafter met her future husband Robert “Bob.” The two were married on June 20, 1959 and nine months later their son John “Scott” was born. Bob’s work took them to California and then to Atlanta where their second son Robert “Andrew” was born. Sandra was a devoted Mother to her “boys” and a supportive wife as Bob left the family business and launched his own company Storer Studios. In 1978 they moved back to Florida purchasing a beachfront home on Hillsboro Mile.

With both her boys now grown, Sandy pursued another of her interests…sport fishing. In a male dominated sport, she was a groundbreaker setting multiple world records on light tackle, winning tournament after tournament both in South Florida and the Bahamas, and traveling throughout the Caribbean and Venezuela with her son Scott as her Captain. In 1983 she won the prestigious Bahamas Billfish Championship. Her talent was undeniable and her photo graced the pages of multiple magazines including ESPN Magazine, Motor Boating and Sailing, and Hatteras World. She was also featured on an episode of the television show Mark Sosin’s Saltwater Journal and immortalized in the iconic works of Guy Harvey.

After her marriage with Bob ended, she remarried and spent many summers first in Mashpee, Massachusetts and then Oceanside in Westport Island, Maine. She also became “Grandma” to John Daniel and Mary and loved cooking Thanksgiving dinners, especially since they were all together as a family. After the death of her second husband, she moved in with her Son “Drew” and his wife Melissa and became a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Of course, every Sunday afternoon in the fall was spent cheering on her beloved Miami Dolphins alongside her family and poodle companions, many of whom greeted her with licks and hugs at her passing.

Beyond her incredible achievements on the water, Sandy was a force of nature. She wore an invisible crown that everyone could see, commanding attention effortlessly. She adored getting dressed up, not just for herself, but as a joyful expression of her spirited soul, and entertaining for friends and family. She had an insatiable zest for life and a delightful collection of attributes that made her uniquely “Sandra.” Her vibrant personality filled the lives of her beloved family with laughter, stories, and unforgettable moments. While their home will feel quieter, her spirit will forever echo in their hearts.

Sandra is survived by her sons, John “Scott” Storer (Tommie) of Atlanta, GA; Robert Andrew Storer (Melissa) of Port Saint Lucie, FL; Grandchildren, John Daniel Storer (Taylor) of Acworth, GA, Mary Scott Storer of Atlanta, GA and Alysyn Ray Thompson of Pflugerville, TX; Great-Grandchildren Mary Ellen Storer and Kimberley Storer; Life-long sister-friend, Josemarie Garland of Tampa, FL, and beloved standard poodle Zeke.

Sandra is preceded in death by her Mother, Nellie (Nell) Hartley Moore Wosznies, Biological Father Thoedore C Howard, Pop Anthony Wosznies; and Treasured Aunt Bertie Andreassi.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
