Sylvia Ann Smith, 90 years young; passed away at home at Vero Beach Florida suddenly on Sunday July 20th 2025.
Sylvia was born in Springvale ME on November 19th 1934 to Norman and Annie (Webster) Smith.
She is survived by spouse Lee Macdonald; sister-in-law Martha Smith; niece Elizabeth Pepper; and nephews Greg and Danny Smith and Jury Krajack Sr.
Predeceased by mother and father, brother Karl Smith and nieces Belinda and Karla Smith.
After graduating from Sanford High School Sylvia enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and served her term at Keesler AFB in Biloxi MI where she enjoyed the warm winters. Returning back to Maine afterward she got fed up with the cold winters and poor job opportunities and followed her mother down to Florida and made it her permanent home. She tried her hand at different jobs including operation of The Litle Dutch Tavern
In Oakland Park. During this time, she met her life partner Lee. After a few years she gave up the restaurant business and found satisfying employment as a secretary and gal Friday for an Electrical contractor. They retired and moved to Indian River County in 1996.
She had many interests that she and Lee shared throughout her life. She enjoyed fresh and salt-water deep-sea fishing, boating with the Lauderdale Small Boat Club, house remodeling fearlessly tackling the big jobs, camping from van-camping weekends, boat camping in their small cruiser all around and through Florida to RVing with WIT Club friends. They made 6 round trips to spend the summers with family in Alaska after retirement. They camped in all 50 states and 10 provinces of Canada through the years.
Sylvia loved cats and dogs and they loved her in return. She always found time to play Frisbee or toss a squeaky toy. There was always room in the camper for cats and dogs.
There was a grin on her face most of the time. Her sunny disposition will be missed by all of us.
As per her wishes no formal services will be held.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
