Thomas Peter Provencher, 86, passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness at his home in Vero Beach, FL.
Thomas was born December 1, 1939, in Blind River, Ontario, Canada to the late Nestor and Blanche Provencher. Tom was the youngest of 13 children and is survived only by his brother Henry.
Thomas was the former owner and founder of BTE West International LLC, a hard metals mining supply company he led with determination and expertise. Through his years of leadership, he built strong relationships throughout the mining industry and earned respect for his knowledge, fairness, and commitment to quality. His career spanned five decades and involved extensive travel and many relocations. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in everything he pursued.
A devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, he lived his life grounded in faith, integrity, and service.
Known for his strength of character, steady leadership, and generous heart, he was a man who believed deeply in providing for his family and standing by his word. While he took pride in his professional accomplishments, his greatest joy was found in his family and the relationships he nurtured throughout his life.
He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife of 66 years, Anne Marie Provencher; children, Kathryn (Lincoln) Burwell, Andrea (Jay) Cady, Patty Free (Scotty) Holland, Michael Provencher and Lynn Parham; grandchildren, Matthew (Beth) Burwell, Daniel (Jennifer) Burwell, Drea (Curtis) Brunet, Melisa Cady, Brandon (Amber) Cady, Ciara (Tyler) Beehler, Mike (Shireen) Cady, Jessica (Jason Wilson) Free, Wesley (Christa) Free, Kevin Free, Jacob (Katie) Provencher, Nicholas Provencher, Sarah Provencher, Cassidy (Chris Copeland) Parham and numerous great-grandchildren.

Tom has been a member of our family for over 47 years. Some of my best memories are of the cottage. Tom was an early riser and loved life, he lived life to the fullest. We will miss him.

Uncle Tom , Claire’s little brother that she loved so much. I grew up with great memories she had of you and Auntie Ann. I was pretty young when you moved, but but do remember a few of the good times in Blind River And the Soo.
Thanks for your hospitality when we came to visit.

Thinking of you all as I remember Uncle Tom. He was a force of nature—always funny and always ready for a great conversation. I’ll never forget how he treated me with such kindness regardless of my age. The way he would collect soap bars from every hotel on his travels just to bring them back for my collection was a small act of attention that meant the world to me as a child. He died as he lived, in the home he loved, and he will be deeply missed.
