Robert Clifford Decker (Bob to his friends, family and coworkers) passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 14, 2026, at his home in Vero Beach, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old.
Born on August 2, 1940, Bob lived a life defined by devotion to his family, steadfast faith, and service to his country. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Louise “Margie” Decker (November 23, 1940 – September 26, 2024). Together they shared 60 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, commitment, and family.
Bob graduated from Hawthorne High School and, at the age of 18, enlisted in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1962. He proudly served aboard an Aircraft Carrier USS Wasp, where he worked as a firefighter, serving his country with honor and dedication.
After completing his military service, Bob moved into the corporate work and worked in a management position at Nabisco. Then in the mid-seventies he joined Dole Foods as a Project Manager. Then in 1979, Dole transferred Bob and his family to Long Island, New York. Dole had an office in Hauppauge. Bob, Margie Bonnie and Todd would move into a house in Miller place, where they would go on to make memories that would last a lifetime. Bob and his family stayed in Miller Place for seventeen years, before Bob and Margie decided to retire to Vero Beach, Florida in August, 1996.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie, and his parents, Richard and Nancy Decker. He is survived by his loving daughter, Bonnie Jean Decker, and son, Todd Robert Decker; his cherished grandchildren, Cole and Skyler; his brother, Albert Decker; and his sister, Ruth Hall. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Those who knew Bob, will remember him as a man of quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering devotion. The two most important things in his life were family and faith, and he demonstrated those values every day through his actions, kindness, and example. He found great joy in spending time with those he loved and took pride in the family he and Margie built together.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the values he instilled, and the love he shared. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with Margie and resting peacefully in God’s care.
