Alice Blair Palmer

August 23, 1925 ~ April 02, 2022

Alice R. Blair Palmer died April 2, 2022, in Vero Beach FL.

She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1925, to the late Robert

Alexander Blair and Pearl Pieper Blair.  She graduated from East High School in 1942.  She worked as a secretary in her Baptist church and in 1946 married Lieutenant Robert H Palmer.

Alice decided that she was not cut out for the cold climate of Erie, nor marriage and in 1952, moved with her daughter to Miami, FL.  They lived in many different areas in south Florida and settled in the Ft. Lauderdale area in 1956.  She worked as a secretary but eventually became a realtor and worked for several different firms.

In 1963, Alice decided that California sounded like the place to be and moved to Long Beach, California and again became a Realtor and Broker.  She owned her own business in Palm Springs, Sun Realty, for many years.

As she approached retirement age, she came to the conclusion that she liked the men in Florida better and relocated to Vero Beach in 1980.  There were several moves back to Carlsbad California, but she basically lived in Vero Beach for the last 42 years.  Of course, she loved real estate and worked on and off in that field and retail, well into her 80’s.

Alice was a long standing and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.  She was also an avid supporter of the Vero Beach Museum of Art and was a talented painter.

Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in passing by her only brother, Donald R. Blair of Greenwich, CT.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie P Strandwitz (Noman), a grandson, Dr. Nicholas Strandwitz (Jackie) and two great grandchildren, Miles and Josephine.  In addition, she is survived by her Niece and Nephew, Linda Saleeby and

Scot Blair.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
