Anne Fromm Forbes

January 04, 1926 ~ November 26, 2022

On November 26, 2022 Anne Fromm Forbes passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and her guardian “Angel” in Vero Beach, Florida.  Born in 1926, Anne was the loving mother of five children: Peter McGirr, Michael C. Nappa Jr., Susan Nappa Cocke (Philip), Robert Nappa (Chika), and Elisa Nappa Ralston (Roger). She leaves three grandchildren: Aya Ogura Nappa, Mari Ogura Nappa and Grace Anne Ralston.  Anne was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Forbes, her sister Carol Lowell, and her brother Robert Fromm.  Her prior marriages to Frank McGirr and to Michael C. Nappa ended in divorce.

Anne was the daughter of William and Eve Fromm.  She was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Rockville Center and Plandome, NY.  As a child, Anne was often found hiding in a tree reading her favorite books.  Her love of literature continued, when she went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literature from Connecticut College.  Anne continued to be an avid reader especially of history and biographies throughout her life, setting up a sharing library amongst her close friends.  In addition, she was a great athlete, enjoying many sports including golf, tennis, skiing and fox hunting.  She even completed the Canadian Cross Country Ski Marathon in her 60’s.  Anne was a strong supporter of the arts and passed that appreciation on to her children.  She spent her life as a strong advocate for children and art organizations, supporting many related charities over the years.  She was an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life.

Friends wishing to honor Anne are invited to make a donation in her name to the Vero Beach Museum of Art and the Southampton Fresh Air Home.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
