On November 26, 2022 Anne Fromm Forbes passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and her guardian “Angel” in Vero Beach, Florida. Born in 1926, Anne was the loving mother of five children: Peter McGirr, Michael C. Nappa Jr., Susan Nappa Cocke (Philip), Robert Nappa (Chika), and Elisa Nappa Ralston (Roger). She leaves three grandchildren: Aya Ogura Nappa, Mari Ogura Nappa and Grace Anne Ralston. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Forbes, her sister Carol Lowell, and her brother Robert Fromm. Her prior marriages to Frank McGirr and to Michael C. Nappa ended in divorce.
Anne was the daughter of William and Eve Fromm. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Rockville Center and Plandome, NY. As a child, Anne was often found hiding in a tree reading her favorite books. Her love of literature continued, when she went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literature from Connecticut College. Anne continued to be an avid reader especially of history and biographies throughout her life, setting up a sharing library amongst her close friends. In addition, she was a great athlete, enjoying many sports including golf, tennis, skiing and fox hunting. She even completed the Canadian Cross Country Ski Marathon in her 60’s. Anne was a strong supporter of the arts and passed that appreciation on to her children. She spent her life as a strong advocate for children and art organizations, supporting many related charities over the years. She was an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life.
