Barbara C. Gay, 78, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away December 14, 2024.

 

She was born on November 27, 1946 in Long Island, NY to the late Edgar and Ruth Hobbs.

 

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Gay worked 34 years as a teacher.  She was a devout Christian who enjoyed reading, taking walks, drawing, arts and crafts, camping and canoeing with her beloved husband Fred.

 

She leaves her memories to be cherished by her husband Fred E. Gay; son, Charles E. Gay; daughters, Kristen M. Gay and Audrey R. Knott; grandchildren, Mariana, Jessalynn, Austin, Zander and Harper.

 

At the request of the family, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online at www.teacherneeds.org, to support a hardworking teacher in Indian River County.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do.
