Barbara Winn

Barbara Hewitt Winn, 78, of Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, following a long-fought battle with heart disease. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend. Barbara was courageous with her health challenges and fiercely independent.
Born March 5, 1947, in Atlanta, GA, to U.S. Navy pilot Lester L. Hewitt and Anne D. Hewitt (nee Davie), Barbara was the eldest of three children. She referred to herself as a “Navy Brat” and lived in many places. Barbara continued this tradition with her own children when they were young and relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to provide them with a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was an amazing adventure and exciting time for Barbara and her children. Thereafter, she served as a paralegal in the same downtown Atlanta law firm for over 30 years. Barbara moved to Florida upon retirement and chose to work into her 70’s. Along with a fulfilling career, Barbara pursued many passions including friendships, cars, football, and dogs. Her love of animals ran deep, from adopting mutts as pets for her children to eventually showing pedigreed dogs. She adored her Newfoundland’s, Bullmastiffs, and Chinese Cresteds. A few years ago, she finally begrudgingly accepted a cat into her world, at her daughter’s gentle urging.
Barbara is survived by her children, Lester “Les” (Christine Fulco Winn) and Christine (H. Lynn Cundiff); her grandchildren, Annabeth, Marigny, and John Winn; her brother Dr. James L. Hewitt and sister Mary Anne “Ginger” McClure; her nephews Evan Bowen and Dr. Joseph Hewitt (Cathy Dunn) and their children; niece Elizabeth “Liz” Hewitt Mirza (Kay Mirza) and their children; and many cousins. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Anne, and was beloved by all.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
