Barry Wayne Philipp, 74, of Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully at Rosewood Manor on November 9, 2023, after battling a long illness.
Born on June 22, 1949, in Baltimore, MD, Barry was a beloved brother and uncle. He will be remembered for his quick wit and his genuine connection with long-time friends near and far.
In his younger years, while living in Maryland, Barry was an avid outdoorsman spending many weekends camping and mountain climbing. He also enjoyed relaxing at the beach with friends and family.
Barry was a 1967 graduate of Towson High School, in Maryland, graduating with honors in math. He then attended the University of Maryland and graduated with high honors earning a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Professionally, Barry thoroughly enjoyed his career in the computer programming business. He lived many years in Rockville, Maryland before moving to Vero Beach in 2021 to be close to family.
He is survived by his sister, Audrey Dale McGee of Vero Beach, FL; his stepbrother Bruce Vogel (Sharlene) of Sykesville, MD; and his stepsister Kathleen Hilditch of Edgemere, MD; his niece Kimberly Koontz (AJ) of Vero Beach, FL; his nephew Adam McGee of Hendersonville, NC; his nephew R Parrish McGee of Vero Beach, FL; his nephew Beau McGee (Joey) of Vero Beach, FL; his niece Amanda Steadman (Luke) of Vero Beach, FL; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Dale Philipp; his father, John Edward Philipp; his stepmother, Genevieve “Pat” Philipp and his stepbrother George Vogel.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date after his remains are transported to Maryland where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents.
He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
