Bernadette R. Fox

April 14, 1931 ~ June 15, 2020

Bernadette Fox (nee McGrath), loving wife of John Patrick Fox (Dec.), Devoted mother of Kathleen (Thomas Childers), Patricia (Kevin Butler), John (Sheila Kerin), and Eileen (Kevin Donnelly). Doting grandmother of Brian, Erin (Corey O’Neal), Tommy (Randi Lee Venturini), Caitlin, Chris, Lauren (Glen Roche), Lisa, Kelci, Tyler (JoAnna Hart) and Megan. Proud great grandmother of Grace, Kellan, and Kennedy Marie.

Bernadette was one of six children born to Irish immigrants. She was born and raised in the Bronx and raised her family there as well. Until the day she died, she always remained extremely proud of her heritage and roots. Aside from her children, grandchildren and great grand-children, she is survived by her brother, Martin (McGrath) and her sister, Nora (Annunziata).

She had a long career in banking while also raising her children. She loved singing, playing cards, and just conversing with people, whether they were old friends or recently met strangers. Despite significant health problems in her later years, her stubborn determination and will to live allowed her to see, feel and experience much more than anyone would have ever imagined.

She loved to quote aphorisms, metaphors and other general life lessons to her children and grandchildren. These were often a source of deep reflection when quoted accurately and appropriately, but just as often a source of mutual laughter when misapplied. When that happened, she would often be the one laughing loudest and hardest.

She will be sorely missed but no one can ever take her sunshine away.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to The American Lung Association in Bernadette’s name.

The world has lost a shining star!

Bernadette was a one of a kind lady who brought joy, laughter, wisdom and her zest for life everywhere she went. She touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her love of family was amazing. Her legacy lives on in you, her accomplished children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was so proud of you all. Your memories will keep her in your hearts forever.
Our hearts are saddened for all of you.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
