Bernette LaRee Marra

April 29, 1934 ~ July 13, 2022

Bernette Marra passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 13 in Sebastian Florida.
Bernie was born in her grandmother’s home in Blandburg, PA to her mother Dorothy Cronis Nevling and her father Clyde Nevling. A few years later she was joined by her brother Joe. Raised in Coalport, PA she graduated from Beccaria-Coalport-Irvona High School in 1952. She then moved to Clearfield, PA where a few years later she met the love of her life, Philip Marra, and they were married in 1958. She then quickly gave birth to two girls, Sandra and Jolene, and dedicated her life to being a loving mother and wife.

Following her husband to New Jersey in the early 1960s, Bernie grew to love the state and especially the Jersey shore. After her husband’s death, she followed her daughters to the Washington DC metro area and provided years of love and support to her beloved grandson Christopher. In 2020 she moved to Florida to be near her younger daughter and the beaches she so loved.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughters Sandra Marra (Chris Brunton) and Jolene Marra (Dan Bella), her brother, Joe Nevling (Jackye Nevling), her grandson Christopher Hope, and a multitude of nieces and nephews on the Marra side.

Bernie was a kind and generous soul, and always made special connections with children and pets. She enjoyed frozen margaritas, eggplant parmesan, and anything sweet. More than anything she loved her daughters and grandson and was always their biggest supporter and fan. She will be missed.

Ah, yes. Missed forever. Her devotion to Christopher knew no bounds. I hope he carries those memories with him every day. Jolene and Sandi, while you may have on occasion vented just a tiny bit about your Mom (like we all do), it was always because you wanted the best for her. You wrote a great farewell obituary which I am sure she is appreciating with a classic Bernie smile wherever she is. My deepest condolences.

The Obituary was all real, sweet, and nice just like I will always remember Aunt Bernie.

She was a blessing to Uncle Philip and all of us. Her presence will be missed. I pray she
will join all of our wonderful family, as we all hope to do someday. Till then, we will fully
live their special legacy.

Beautiful obit and love the pic. We are all miracles.

I share a version of a Bible verse for Sandi, Jolene, Christopher: Is death a leap into a void? Of course not! It is to throw yourself into the arms of the Lord. It is to hear the invitation, unmerited, but given in all sincerity. “Well done, good and faithful servant…come enter into the joy of your master.”

Love to my cousins….Carol Marra Porto

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
