Betty Jean Ward

July 27, 1931 ~ December 27, 2022

Betty Jean Ward (Casey), 91 of Sebastian, passed away December 27, 2022, at the VNA Hospice House.

She was born July 27, 1931, in Rodney, Ohio to her parents Samuel St. Clair Casey and Elizabeth Virginia (Pettit) Casey and graduated from Gallia Academy in 1948. Mrs. Ward married Ralph Leroy Ward and they resided in the Coal Grove/Ironton area. Following her husbands passing in 1971, Mrs. Ward moved her family to Sebastian, FL.

She was the former past Madame President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was a member of the Elks Club, Italian American Club, Orioles, and the Sebastian V.F.W. and Moose Organizations.
She ran the local chapter of T.O.P.S on Mondays at the Sebastian Methodist Church on Main Street for many years and resigned after her health declined.

She worked over 10 years for Walmart in the fabric department at the Sebastian Stores.

She is survived by her children, David (Deann) Ward of Sebastian, Elizabeth Laster of Vero Beach, Sandra (Joe) Castillo, III of Sebastian, Donald (Jan) Ward of Roseland, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as an infant daughter, Mary Susan Ward and son, John Allen Ward. Brothers, Clarence Casey, Eugene Casey, Sammy Casey, and Arthur Caudill. Sisters, Lucille Antanovich, Thelma Hamrick, and Ruth Ferrell.

She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements are under the direction of Millennium Cremation Service, Sebastian, Fla.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date and will be announced.

Rest in peace now Miss Betty. Be with your family and friends now, I’m sure that they were waiting on you.
I have been your neighbor since 1977. Steve and I will miss seeing you walking around. You can walk around all you want to now.

Betty was a wonderful lady, I lived beside her for a little while in Coal Grove Ohio, she and her family are very special people. I have missed them all since the moved to Florida
