Charles “Chuck” Chesnut, age 77, woke up in the arms of Jesus on January 27, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic in Vero Beach, Florida. Chuck was a friend to many, a neighbor, husband, father, grandfather, brother, “Funkel,” and son.
Born to Charles and Marion Chesnut Chuck lived most of his life in Marion, Ohio with his four siblings Marcie, Mark, Barbara, and Sara. After graduating from Marion Harding high school in 1965 he was drafted into the army serving as a Medic in the Vietnam war with many many other young soldiers.
After returning from Vietnam, and a wild & wooly phase, Chuck eventually landed at Whirlpool Corporation, Marion division in 1970 until he retired in 2007.
Oh how he enjoyed his retirement just doing his thing. Golfing, riding bike trails all over Ohio, restoring his bright red 1965 MGB, photography, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
In 1980 Chuck married his wife of 44 years Gwen. Together they have one son Charles H Chesnut III who married Angela and soon Chuck & Gwen became grandparents of Charles IV, Carter, and Clara. Oh how grandpa Chuck loved playing with those three kiddos. “Funkel Chuck” had many nieces and nephews and enjoyed a special bond as the fun uncle “Funcle.”
In 2014, “too old for cold” Chuck and Gwen moved to Amelia Island Florida. Still too cold they moved further south to North Hutchinson Island, Florida where Chuck loved nothing more than to sit outside and stare at that beautiful Atlantic ocean on the treasure coast.
A celebration of life and memorial service will be held for Chuck at a later date near his home on North Hutchinson Island Florida, and also in his hometown of Marion, Ohio.

I will miss you Chuck but a comforting thought is that you have now joined your great friend Tim Clark. May the two of you enjoy reconnecting.
