Sterling Cooper was a father, grandfather, husband, and son. He grew up in the Vero Beach area and was a member of St Helen’s Catholic Church. While living in Vero Beach he met the love of his life and married her. He was married to Mary Flo Ann Schwey Cooper for 25 years before she passed. He was a businessman and hard worker who prided himself on being a loyal person and a good friend. He had an amazing work ethic and was ambitious and tenacious in his work. He was an entrepreneur at heart – He owned a pit BBQ restaurant, was a police officer, a salesman, and even had fun delivery pizzas after retirement. Sterling was well known by many for his sense of humor and ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome in his presence. He loved golf and was an expert golfer and enjoyed watching the sport long after he had to give up playing it.
Sterling is survived by many people who cared for him. Sterling was glad to connect with his son Jeff and spend his final days with him and his girlfriend, Victoria. They treated him well and helped him very much. Jeff was a very kind son and Sterling and his family were very grateful. Sterling loved his brothers and sisters and spoke of them with genuine affection.
Of all the things he did, becoming a grandfather to Alexander Sterling was Sterling’s greatest joy. He was kind, patient, and loving to his wonderful grandson. He was so proud of Alexander. They shared a love of cooking and watching tv together. He would make spaghetti with Sunday Sauce and a big glass of milk for the both of them to enjoy together. Sterling would take his grandson on many fun adventures and loved to listen to 1950’s music with him like Sheri by The Four Seasons.
Sterling is greatly missed.

I met Sterling & Flo back in 1982 – 1986. They were living in Bradenton, Fl at the time. I think we met at a residential pool where we used and I got to know Sterling & Flo & EC. I would go over to visit when I was along by my self and my parents at the time came down for the winters. I remember Sterling was the manager of TV & Stereo Town. I remember being evacuated because Hurricane Elaina was supposed to hit Bradenton so we we spent the day and night at West Bradenton Baptist Church which was the shelter. I remember having soup & Peanut Butter Graham Crackers. I remember Sterling use say “honesty is the best policy”. Another time I remember they were friends with a judge and his wife who came over to visit from Vero Beach. I dosed off on there living room floor and got talking in my sleep about Publix. I was saying no Publix no. Anyway Flo & the judges wife herd me talking about Publix. Now I work for Publix. Sterling and Flo and EC were beautiful people and I am thankful for being friends for the short season that we were. I am sorry I never got to meet Jeff and Grandson Alexander but I know they are beautiful people like Sterling & Flo & EV. God Bless You Richly. From Peter W.
