Christine McGriff (aka Pearl Christine (Garland) McGriff) was born on December 25, 1929 in Okeechobee, Florida to Curtis Garland and Sally Elizabeth (Hines) Garland.
Christine grew up in Sand-Cut, Florida and completed Grammar School in Bryant, Florida. She furthered her education, obtaining her high school diploma and becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. Christine worked over 15 years in the nursing field. She received her Associates and Bachelors’ Degree in Biblical Studies from Truth Bible College & Seminary, Jacksonville. Christine had a passion for music and was a gifted and talented bass guitar player. Her skilled ability to play by ear, earned her the nickname “Lady Bass” and “Tonk”.
On Friday, February 5, 2021 at Sandgate Gardens Nursing Home in Fort Pierce, Florida, Christine’s life journey on this earth came to an end. Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Sally Garland; her husband, Willie James (Kinnerman) McGriff; her daughter, Martha Gail (Kirkland) McGriff Ferguson; one brother, Daniel Garland; four sisters, Charlie Mae, Jeanette, Esse and Josephine Small.
Christine leaves to cherish her memories: her four grandchildren, Christina Moore, Rodney E. McGriff (Shutonna), Marlene M. McGriff, and Rhondalyn E. McGriff; four great-grandchildren: Shandalanae A. Forde-Judon (Michael), Jessica C. Morgan, Joshua C. Ealy, RaShawna E. Stuckey; six great, great-grandchildren: J’Shaun, Allena, Jordan, Kennedi, Makail, and JaKobi, and many other loving relatives.
