Daniel Portillo

May 24, 2005 ~ October 01, 2022

The stars danced on May 24, 2005, when Daniel was born. A bright inquisitive boy! The world was his playground to be discovered. He loved holidays, and his favorite was getting dressed up for Halloween as one of his preferred superheroes and trick-or-treating. He also loved 4th of July and Christmas.

Most importantly, Daniel had a deep love for his family. He was a loving son and a friend to his mother Mali and to his sister Penelope. He also had a devoted love for his maternal grandmother Natasha and great-aunt Luisa. He brought so much joy to them. Daniel was best friend to his friends: always considerate, respectful, loyal, and disciplined.
Daniel had a magnetic personality. Being bilingual, speaking perfect English and Spanish, he charmed his audience with his eloquence. What a creative person he was! He wrote like a champion. His stories were so creative, worthy of an award. He liked superheroes and enjoyed anime. His favorite genre was smart science-fiction-fairytale shows. Among other things, he loved the colors gold and black, Batman, Harley Quinn, Transformers, and alligators.

Daniel was a senior at Lincoln Park Academy class of 2023 and was very involved in school activities. He played the contralto for the school band, was on the tennis team, and in the International Baccalaureate program. After graduation, he wanted to pursue his education in cinematography and perhaps buy that Mini Cooper he always dreamt of driving.

Life blessed everyone who met him. The universe shared its splendor with us for 17 years, until, in the early hours of October 1, 2022, he was called to shine from above. He will be missed by many. But our comfort is in the memories he left and in the time he shared with us.
Daniel’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Lawnwood Hospital for their compassion, care, and commitment; to Daniel’s LPA friends, teachers and parents; and to our local community for all their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.

A private celebration of life service for Daniel will be held at a local church.

I’ve known Daniel for about four years now. I met him through a friend I met in band camp about four years ago. Daniel was always funny and was always there for me when I needed him. His jokes were always funny, I enjoyed our conversations when we had them and playing videos games. I haven’t spoken to him in a year since I last saw him a year ago during Thanksgiving, but I regret not speaking to him for so long. I will miss him, and I hope his family is doing ok. I love you Daniel, thank you for being in my life.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
