Darryl L. Engman

September 21, 1948 ~ August 18, 2026

Darryl L. Engman, 77, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away on August 18, 2026. He spent the last 11 years of his life enjoying retirement in Florida with Charleen, his beloved wife of nearly 42 years. Though he lived in several different states throughout his life, Wisconsin was always home for much of his journey.

Darryl was born on September 21, 1948, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Anthony and Norma Engman. Shortly after graduating from Muskego High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Darryl pursued several careers, spending much of his working life in the restaurant industry.

A true cowboy at heart, Darryl loved and raised many horses over the years. His favorite was his beloved Paint Stallion, Doc. He was rarely seen without his cowboy hat, a cigarette, and a coffee cup in hand. Whether that cup held coffee or beer was sometimes anyone’s guess. In retirement, his love for animals continued through the dogs and cats that became part of his life. He also enjoyed fishing, even stocking a pond on his property so he could spend evenings fishing with his grandkids. One of his greatest joys was creating beautiful works of art in his woodworking shop, where his hands and imagination brought countless pieces to life.

Darryl is survived by his loving wife, Charleen; children, Michelle (Steven) Stampa of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Paula Zastrow of Racine, Wisconsin, and Kevin (LeAnn) Zastrow of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; mother, Norma Engman of Mukwonago, Wisconsin; siblings, Janet (the late Jacomino) Peroceschi of Muskego, Wisconsin, Annette (the late Jim) Peroceschi of East Troy, Wisconsin, Lorelei (Larry) Woodcock of Muskego, Wisconsin, and Arlyn (Bonnie) Engman of Pompano Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Darren Meyer, Desiree Meyer, Steffanie (Tanner) Peterson, Jose Rico II, Franciso (Emily Mundt) Rico, Caleb Stampa, Allison (Darrin) Wood, and Hannah (Peter) Poull; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Engman; father, Anthony Engman; brother, Bruce Engman; and daughter-in-law, Janet Zastrow.

Darryl will be remembered for his free spirit, strength, creative hands, and deep love for the people and animals who shared his life. His stories, humor, and unmistakable cowboy spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he will be dearly missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the memories he created and the love he gave so generously.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
