Dolores (Dee) Winifred Scarborough

July 25, 1935 ~ December 13, 2023

Dolores (Dee) Winifred Scarborough, 88, of Indian River County, Florida, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at her home surrounded by love.
Born on July 25, 1935, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Leon Howard Ramp and Helen Jane (Koser) Ramp.
Dee was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend.
She was survived by her husband of 50 years, Jasper (JC) Scarborough – by 24 days.
Surviving are daughters, Pamela Hagan (husband Joe) of Georgia, Diane Deppen of Florida, Patricia Windowmaker (wife Lisa Porter) of New Hampshire; son Dennis Windowmaker of Florida; sisters Barbara McCalister of Pennsylvania, and Judy Ruch (husband Rich) of Colorado; brother-in-law Ray Bricker of Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by son Kenneth Windowmaker Jr.; sisters Shirley Bricker and Linda Brandt; and brother-in-law Christian McCalister.
Dee loved and was loved.
Dee loved life and she lived it fully from Pennsylvania to Florida to Alaska and a few places in between. She was a self made strong woman who always wanted more for herself and her family. She graduated from Calvary High School and attended Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. Dee worked in a shoe factory in her teenage years. Never afraid to reinvent herself, she became a bookkeeper for several companies and went on to own a cosmetics store and shirt shops. She later became a licensed real estate agent in Florida and Alaska.
Dee loved music and she loved to dance. She was adventurous, beautiful and bold. She held a room with her legendary quick wit, embracing smile and contagious laughter. Dee loved her family and friends fiercely and unconditionally, and she never met a stranger. Even more so, because she said so, she loved her dogs – and an occasional cat.
Dee was a life-long seeker and daughter of God. Most of all, she was and remains a force to be reckoned with. Until we meet again – We love you more. The end. We win.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation, in act or in kind, to an animal rescue
organization of your choosing, or to simply share a smile with a stranger or loved one.

You always were and will continue to be an inspiration to me, the strongest woman I have ever known. I would not be the man, son, brother, and father I am today if not for you. From my first day in this world you were always there for me, a second mom, a wonderful grandmother and a bright beautiful light in my life. I love and miss you every day.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
