Dorothy Lee Moody, 83, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully leaving behind a legacy of deep family devotion, warmth, and enduring love.
Born on January 10, 1943, in Belfast, Maine, she was the cherished daughter of the late Elmer and Georgia Nickerson. Dorothy spent the first chapter of her life in the beautiful coastal town of Belfast. In 1971, she and her beloved husband, the late Chet L. Moody, made the decision to relocate to Vero Beach, Florida, where they built a vibrant, tight-knit life together and raised their family.
Dorothy worked for many years as a dedicated bank teller at Florida National Bank. Driven by her profound love for her family, she chose to retire early to care for her grandchildren-a role that she poured her heart into and frequently described as one of the greatest joys of her life. Beyond her devotion to her family, Dorothy was an avid reader who loved the quiet comfort of a good book, found immense happiness in simply spending time with her loved ones, and cherished the adventures of traveling.
Her memory will be forever treasured by her surviving family, including her son, Keith Moody, and his wife, Alice, of South Carolina; and her daughter, Tammy Kramer, and her husband, Kevin, of Vero Beach, Florida. She was the proud grandmother of Hailey Hatt and her husband, Cody, and Rhett Kramer and his wife, Victoria; and the adoring great-grandmother of Kylo Hatt, all of Vero Beach.
Dorothy is also survived by her loving sisters, Teresa Crosby, June Russ, and Edith Nickerson, all of Belfast, Maine; her sister-in-law, Pamela Nelson; and her special niece and dedicated caregiver, Wendy Carter, of Vero Beach, whose compassionate care brought great comfort to Dorothy and her family. She also had many more nieces and nephews that she adored.
She was reunited in eternity with her husband, Chet; her brothers, Raymond (Nick) Nickerson, Harland Nickerson, and Byron Nickerson; her sisters, Gena Shute and Avis Metcalf; and her step-sister, Carlene Peirce.
Dorothy’s kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to those she loved will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family is planning to have a private event.

A beautiful and loving sister. Miss her very much. Thinking of all the times of our family as we were growing up in a loving family. I was 8 years old when Dot was born, such a beautiful baby and dearly loved than as she is now. God bless her.

Dot was one of the kindest and sweetest beautiful ladies God ever created. She and Chet embraced Kelly and me from day one. I have so many memories of them both. I will never forget when I first met them I was in the RV business and Dot and Chet loved camping, I had a motorhome for sale which Chet liked and decided to go home and get Dot. When they returned I had the a.c. on, lights on and it had blue interior and as soon as Dot walked in she fell in love with it. Chet laughingly said I didn’t play fair and from then on the memories began. So many trips camping and met so many Maniac’s because of them. God welcomed a good and faithful servant when Dot went home to glory. I love you Dot.

Dot was a good friend. A lot of memories of working at Florida National Bank and our Christmas parties. She is at peace and reunited with Chet. She will be missed. She loved her family for sure.
