Douglas Parker Marquis
February 25, 1940 to October 6, 2024
Doug gently entered heaven surrounded by his loving family at Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL after a courageous battle with melanoma that escalated rapidly.
Doug was a proud graduate of The Moses Brown School in Providence, RI. He attended Rollins College and graduated from Bridgeport University.
In 1964, Doug met Sue Angell in Glens Falls, NY at “The Ski Bummers Club”. This was the beginning of a lifetime of love and partnership. Every day was a gift and every year was an adventure lasting 60 years.
He loved all sports and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. He was a great athlete himself, and made golf look easy.
Doug had an incredible ability to connect with all types of people. He liked every person he ever met. He was selfless and his humility showed through in all he did. His common response to “How are you today?”, was “Better than good!”.
Doug’s love for Vero Beach drew him to become a leader at The Grand Harbor Club and The Oak Harbor Club where he was a bright shining light for 33 years. In Business, Doug loved the people he worked with and built a successful corporate career with US Catheter and Instrument, Genpak, and Handgards.
Doug was filled with pride and love for his two sons, Jeffrey Parker Marquis and Matthew Grant Marquis. He was an exceptional grandfather and mentor to his cherished grandchildren. McKenna Marquis (deceased), Matthew Marquis Jr., Emma Marquis, Ellie Marquis and Katherine Marquis. Doug’s daughter-in-law, Margaret Marquis and sister-in-law, Ann Sipka encircled him with love in his final days.
A memorial service is being planned at The Oak Harbor Club in Vero Beach, FL. Date and time to be determined.

Dear Sue,
Doug and you were cherished friends these past six years.
Doug now is in a better place in no pain.
On my side, Doug has re-united with Rebecca and Giorgio. I look forward to my re-union with the three, and others down the road.
May he rest in peace. May you heal. I will be nearby.
Did Doug have a charitable request?
Look forward to being with you at his celebration of life.
Much love. Bill
