March 23, 2022 at 3:05 p.m. Eileen Erin Morris, surrounded by her loved ones at home, took her final breath on this side of Heaven, and awoke to new life with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Eileen fought a valiant 16 month battle with cancer and did so with an inspiring spirit that was nothing short of determination, strength, courage and unwavering faith and hope she held tightly to, in Jesus Christ.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany to parents Edward James Cooney, Sr., and Marianne Cooney, while her father was enlisted in the U.S. Airforce, lived a portion of her childhood in Bergenfield, NJ before the family moved to Vero Beach, FL in 1972.
Eileen graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1979, and set off into the field of Physical Therapy, becoming an aide. Eileen soon trained to become a Licensed Massage Therapist and was well loved for her amazing skills and abilities, often having seasonal clients that would wait to return to Florida for treatment. Eileen spent her last 17 years employed in the Physical Therapy Department and Billing at Vero Orthopedics & Neurology where she was well loved and respected for her kindness, laughter and compassion towards co-workers and patients.
Eileen’s love for her family was evident in all she did and was an active “Band Mom” for several years at Vero Beach High School where 2 of her 3 children were involved in band. Her behind the scenes role in the Crown Jewel Marching Festival was always something Eileen gave her all in and was greatly admired for her tireless efforts.
Eileen leaves behind a wonderful legacy of life that her family and friends will cherish, always remembering how deeply she loved, laughed and took on challenges. She was a determined soul and spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was our Eileen. We are so grateful and blessed to have shared life with this amazing woman.
Eileen leaves behind her husband of 28 years, Robert Scott Morris, children, Edward Brown, Evan Morris, both of Vero Beach, Emilie Morris (fiance’ Kyle) of Tampa, stepson Austin Morris-Dukes of Jacksonville, grandchildren, Kaylee, Bryson, AJ and Ashton, along with 6 siblings, Edward Cooney Sr., Charlene (Shane) Lawrence, Patrick (Donella) Cooney, Sr., Cathleen (Brian) Reimsnyder, William (Danielle) Cooney, Daniel (Leah) Cooney, all of Florida, 21 nieces/nephews, 12 great nieces/nephews and 6 great-great nieces/nephews.
Eileen was preceded in death by parents, Edward James Cooney, Sr., and Marianne Emilie Cooney, brother, Thomas Christopher Cooney, Sr., niece, Irene Marie Cooney, and nephew, Riley James Cooney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vero Beach Nazarene Legacy Fund or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her memory.
